Centers for Integrative and Complementary Medicine

Biography:
Dr. Fred Pescatore is a traditionally trained physician who has chosen to practice Integrative Medicine. After working alongside Dr. Robert C. Atkins as Associate Medical Director of the Atkins Center, a world-renowned center for complementary medicine, Dr. Pescatore recently opened the Centers for Integrative and Complementary Medicine, with offices in New York, Dallas, and Palm Beach. In his daily practice, Dr. Pescatore treats patients with AIDS and cancer—in addition to addressing more common concerns such as diet and nutrition—by employing a combination of both alternative and traditional medicines.

Dr. Pescatore received his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, and a Master's degree from the Columbia University School of Public Health. He completed his medical training at three of New York’s preeminent teaching hospitals; St. Vincent’s, Mt. Sinai Medical Center, and St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center. While studying at Columbia and traveling extensively throughout Asia, Dr. Pescatore trained with practitioners who specialized in alternative healing techniques.

He is also the author of the new book, Thin For Good: The One Low Carbohydrate Diet that Will Work For You. His first book, Feed Your Kids Well, is a health and nutrition book for kids in the vein of low-carbohydrate dieting. He has appeared on hundreds of local and national television shows, such as The Today Show, The View, and the Fox News Channel, and thousands of radio shows and Web broadcasts. He was recently the featured diet expert on MSNBC.com, and ivillage.com. Prior to this, he was the host of the popular syndicated radio show, Your Health Choices, the Friday edition and The Logical Alternative.

To keep abreast of both alternative and traditional teachings, Dr. Pescatore is a member of the American Medical Association, The American Public Health Association, The Foundation for the Advancement of Innovative Medicine and the American College for the Advancement of Medicine.
