Biography:
Dr. Maritza L. Groth is an assistant professor of Clinical Medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and Director of Critical Care and the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, New York. She is also assistant director of the Sleep Disorders Center.

Dr. Groth received her undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and her medical degree from New York University in 1983. She trained in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at University Hospital and Medical Center at Stony Brook.

Dr Groth is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and in Sleep Disorders Medicine. She has published in the fields of aerosol medicine, asthma, pleural diseases and sleep disorders. She has been investigator in many clinical trials in asthma, COPD and pneumonia.

She is a fellow of the College of Chest Physicians and of the Academy of Sleep Medicine, and a member of the American Thoracic Society and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
