Mary Fischer graduated from the Physical Therapy Program at Columbia University in 1988, and started her career as a "baby PT" at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan. At that time, the PT Department consisted of only ten therapists. Today, Mary is Beth Israel's Director of the Department of Rehabilitation Therapies, where she oversees a staff of a hundred Physical and Occupational Therapists, Trainers and Support personnel.
Mary became interested in work-related problems when she noticed that she was treating a high volume of workplace-related injuries that were preventable. A firm believer in working like an athlete, Mary's tips on "working well" cover a variety of problem areas for anyone who sits at a desk or performs repetetive movements throughout the day.
