Your refrigerator may be linked to bowel disease

A group of researchers in France say bacteria that thrive in low temperatures may be a cause of Crohn's disease, a type of inflammatory bowel disease. And they suggest the prevalence of mechanical refrigeration throughout the world may help explain the rise in cases of Crohn's disease in the 20th century. The research was published in the Lancet, a respected British medical journal. Many other theories about the rise in inflammatory bowel disease have also been proposed, such as genetic factors, environmental changes, food additives and an overly hygienic lifestyle. Even if it is confirmed that the bacteria that live in the cooler temperatures of modern day of refrigeration contributes to Crohn's disease, no one suggests abandoning your refrigerator.
