Night blindness may be caused by nearsightedness

A common cause of difficulty seeing at night or in dim lighting is nearsightedness. As the pupil dilates in a dark room to all in more light, it causes spherical aberration, making your eye more nearsighted than it is in a bright room. This condition can easily be corrected by wearing a pair of glasses with a different prescription lens at night.
